FITTING THE NFL MOLD
Ideally, a RBs height will be between 5'9" and 6'1" and he will weigh somewhere between 200 and 230 lbs. Giddens' frame is right in the sweet spot where he isn't too big or too small and can compete right away. The two greatest predictors of NFL success for RBs in the combine are the 40 Yard Dash and the Broad Jump. These test a players speed as well as their lower body explosiveness. Giddens scored well on both events and is the only other player besides Tuten to score a extraordinary in BOTH the Speed Score and Burst Score.
COLLEGE PRODUCTION
Giddens had a productive career at K State his last 2 seasons, being a productive member of the team who played frequently but was not overused. NFL teams raise red flags when a player has 700 or more carries in college or 300+ carries in a season. Giddens has a great YPC (6.0) which could be due to him being in a committee and getting rest when needed. That will likely also be the case when he gets to the next level as an increase in opportunity will likely be negated by a decrease in efficiency.
WATCHING THE TAPE
You might as well call Giddens Ricky Bobby, because he is out there shaking and baking. His juke move is a problem, and he collects ankles like scalps. He uses his large frame to bully the defense and run through arm tackles with ease. He doesn't shy away from contact and will attack the gap with no fear. He has good hands and route running as a downfield threat out of the backfield.
THE LANDING SPOT
Giddens lands on the Colts who like to run the ball. The problem for Giddens is that he will likely be the RB 3 this season landing behind workhorse Jonathan Taylor and backup Khalil Herbert. The Colts drafted Giddens to be a serviceable and cheap RB depth piece, and that should be exactly what he delivers.
WHERE TO DRAFT HIM
You don't draft RB3's in redraft leagues and Giddens should be no exception. In dynasty rookie drafts, Giddens is a 3rd round or later selection. He was drafted to be a depth piece and will likely remain a depth piece throughout his career due to this landing spot. Nobody is going to want to sign a 25/26-year-old RB to be their starter after he has been a backup his whole career in the NFL.
