FITTING THE NFL MOLD

Ideally, a TE will have a height between 6'4" and 6'6", weigh somewhere between 245 and 260 lbs, and have an arm length over 33". While blocking is a great trait to have, we want to look for TEs who have receiving upside. Therefore, the most important tests to predict success at the next level will be the 40-yard dash, the 10-yard split, and the vertical jump. We're looking for scores around 4.6-4.75 for the 40, 1.55-1.65 for the 10 yd split, and 32-36" for the vertical. Arroyo is a big guy with an athletic build but declined to participate in both the Combine and Pro Day tests to give us a better idea of how he will do at the next level. He didn't participate due to a knee injury, which we'll get into more below.

COLLEGE PRODUCTION

Two huge factors that scouts are looking for at this position are: Do they have consistent hands to be a QBs safety valve and are they truly a TE or an OL or WR in disguise? Arroyo is very raw and had minimal work in his college career. He dealt with a plethora of injuries throughout his career including a torn ACL in the middle of the 2022 season. Arroyo then got hurt in the Senior Bowl which resulted in him missing out on competing at the combine and his pro day. Injuries are going to be a huge red flag for him and he's going to drop in the draft because of it. He had a decent season this year without a doubt. But with only 55 targets over the last 3 seasons, his ability to transition to the league is going to be extremely difficult.

WATCHING THE TAPE

I'm not going to lie. The first thing I thought when I turned on the tape was, no wonder he keeps getting injured running on those chicken legs. Defenders will fly through and cut him and every time it makes me cringe. He has the Mike Williams trait of having no sense of self-preservation which lends itself to an increased frequency of injuries. His hands aren't anything special, but he is able to make a play when needed. He doesn't have the power to bully defenders and create a pile, but he does have the speed to breakaway if he gets free at the second level.

THE LANDING SPOT

Arroyo was drafted by the Seahawks where he will get to play 2nd fiddle and learn from another talented TE, Noah Fant. Fant didn't have much work in college either but was able to use his athleticism to have a decent career in the NFL. Strictly fantasy football people may say that's laughable due to him having little fantasy success, but Fant has been a solid TE for teams. Arroyo should be able to pick up plenty of useful tips from the 6-year vet so he can take over the starting job next season. Fant is in the final year of his contract.

WHERE TO DRAFT HIM

Arroyo is un-draftable in all redraft formats. I am weary about Arroyo in dynasty rookie drafts as well, he is a hesitant 3rd round pick for me and I'm happy if someone snags him earlier and he is their headache.
