Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Adds: Week 4

The draft is the foundation to a good fantasy team, but a championship team is active on the waiver wire to capitalize on shifting opportunity shares and emerging talent. Each week, I’ll give you a breakdown of my favorite adds in fantasy football. The order I list the players doesn't matter as I believe the players you select off this list should be based off position of need and other team unique factors. Regardless, these are always hot players of the week worth boosting your team.

Cole Kmet, TE, Chicago Bears

Tight end is a wasteland this year. Though the Bears are a very different team than the previous two years in ways both good and bad, Cole Kmet has still finished exactly at number 7 in half ppr rankings for tight ends the past two years. You could do a lot worse. His points have steadily increased over the past three weeks. Going from 1.40 to 6.70 to 25.70 in week 3, Kmet has steadily increased in points as Caleb has increased in passing yards. Kmet's snaps have also steadily risen going from 48 to 77 to 81 and it's no coincidence Kmet has achieved more points with more snaps. Keenan Allen is banged up, Odunze is coming off a great game but banged up, and D.J. Moore isn't doing much yet. A lot of people just dropped Kmet after being impatient over two weeks. I think Kmet is worth a shot as I believe Caleb will continue to pass more and get better with more reps.

Jauan Jennings, WR, San Francisco 49ers

This one is obvious. The 49ers are probably the most injured team in the league right now and Aiyuk is still getting up to speed. Deebo is out another week at least, CMC who knows, Kittle is now injured, and the beneficiary was Jennings with a 175 yard and three touchdown game. His snaps are increasing and so are his points. Though I'm always hesitant to chase touchdowns, I'm willing to make an exception in this case as the 49ers are desperate for playmakers. Jennings has proven he can be that guy and while 40 point games won't be regular I feel like 20 something is attainable consistently.

Jalen Nailor, WR, Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings are the surprise team this year starting off 3-0 after dominating the Texans in what I consider a shocking upset. Sam Darnold is slanging that thing and other than Justin Jefferson the other beneficiary in the receiving corps has been Nailor. Addison has now injured both ankles and missed two games with an unclear timetable to return. Addison also has an upcoming court appearance on October 7th to be arraigned and enter a plea regarding his July 12th arrest this year on suspicion of DUI. While everyone else except this team at Bettor in Green was having a Diddy party wondering whether Rice would be disciplined this year or not, we knew his trial wasn't until December this year. Addison however, could very well be disciplined and potentially suspended this season with how early his trial is in the season. Between the Addison injury and potential suspension, Nailor stands to be second in the pecking order for targets for a while. Hockenson could be back soon but it would take a few weeks to ramp up so until further notice I'm liking the trajectory of Nailor.

Bucky Irving, RB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Irving has now outproduced White as a rusher in all three games this young season. He's achieved a 6.89 ypc in game 1 and 7.78 in game 3. His receiving work isn't special but he catches a good chunk of what's thrown his way and that should increase too. He's managed this never going above 35% of snaps in any of these games so far but head coach Bowles says that is about to change. White is a little banged up already and being outproduced heavily by the rookie so I'm concerned as a White owner. Bucky should be a priority add for anyone but especially Rachaad White managers.
