The draft is the foundation to a good fantasy team, but a championship team is active on the waiver wire to capitalize on shifting opportunity shares and emerging talent. Each week, I’ll give you a breakdown of my favorite adds in fantasy football. The order I list the players doesn't matter as I believe the players you select off this list should be based off position of need and other team unique factors. Regardless, these are always hot players of the week worth boosting your team.
Xavier Legette, WR, Carolina Panthers
If you tuned into the Bettor in Green Tuesday night lives you would have already known about Legette before his breakout this past weekend. I mentioned on live that he was a special pickup for the live listeners in light of Thielen being put on IR and Legette delivered for 16.60 points and his first career touchdown. Thielen is out at least another three games, I suspect even longer given his age and mileage so Legette is firmly locked into the number two receiving role behind Diontae Johnson. Under Bryce Young this wouldn't be worth much, however, the Panthers look to be reinvigorated and capable under Andy Dalton at QB for the time being.
Tucker Kraft, TE, Green Bay Packers
Jordan Love's return this past Sunday elevated the stock of all the Green Bay pass catchers heavily. Kraft was a big beneficiary of this as he has already overtaken Musgrave as the number one TE in Packers country. Musgrave's snap participation has been redder than the devil's dick while Kraft is greener than the light above a prostitute's vagina. With Christian Watson sidelined an indefinite amount of time with a high ankle sprain, there is suddenly a vacuum in the Green Bay offense. Though I'm sure a large part of the volume of the aerial attack for Green Bay Sunday was a result of being behind the whole game, it's still encouraging to see Love with a colossal volume output. Kraft had 53 yards, a touchdown, and a two point conversion to boot. Love looks stellar coming back from injury and he will continue to get his groove back as the season goes on and reps continue to build. Even from a mobility standpoint Love looked to be his regular self and all of the Green Bay offense will benefit as a result.
Trey Sermon, RB, Indianapolis Colts
Jonathan Taylor unfortunately has a high ankle sprain and an extensive injury history. While there is uncertainty regarding the severity and if he will miss any time, it's more than likely he will. High ankle injuries have a high chance of reaggravation over the course of a season especially at a position like RB that requires extensive movement, cutting, start and stop acceleration, etc. along with the physical toll playing the position imparts. Sermon is the next man up in the backfield and already managed a touchdown in week 3. Sermon is a good lottery ticket stash to get ahead while you can until there is more clarity on the severity of the injury to Taylor.
Honorable Mentions: Dontayvion Wicks, Josh Downs, Tre Tucker, Cade Otton, Justin Watson
