Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Adds: Week 7

The draft is the foundation to a good fantasy team, but a championship team is active on the waiver wire to capitalize on shifting opportunity shares and emerging talent. Each week, I’ll give you a breakdown of my favorite adds in fantasy football. The order I list the players doesn't matter as I believe the players you select off this list should be based off position of need and other team unique factors. Regardless, these are always hot players of the week worth boosting your team. This week we are runningback heavy as most other players trending up have already been covered in this series, oftentimes a week in advance of their breakout to truly help give you an edge in your league.

Ray Davis, RB, Buffalo Bills

Before kickoff no one could give a clear answer who to pick up between Ray Davis, Frank Gore, or Ty Johnson. Well it looks like the answer was Ray Davis. Filling in for an injured James Cook, Davis posted 97 yards on 20 carries for an impressive 4.85 YPC. Davis was also encouragingly active as a pass catcher with 3 targets and 3 receptions for 55 yards at a whopping 18.33 YPT and YPC. Who knows how long Cook will be sidelined with injury so temper expectations but as a bye week or injury fill in I think Davis will excel until clarity is developed about Cook.

Kimani Vidal, RB, Los Angeles Chargers

The GMReport was pounding the table all offseason for Vidal and for good reason as demonstrated Sunday. Inefficient as a runner, Vidal more than made up in receiving work. 2 targets resulting in 2 receptions for 40 yards at a rate of 20 YPT and YPC including a receiving touchdown. Gus Edwards is on IR at least 3 more games and Dobbins is still the lead back but the Chargers are in desperate need of pass catchers behind Johnston and McConkey. Herbert looks to be his old self rejuvenated from the bye week rest and the team is 3-2 with a real shot above the Broncos and Raiders right now. Vidal appears poised and ready to step up into an expanded role as the lightning to Dobbins's thunder.

Cade Otton, TE, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

You could do a lot worse than Otton at tight end this year. In his last 4 games he has consistently produced between 9-11 points in each game and is a contributing member of a high powered offense. He hasn't dipped below 81% of all snaps all season and just caught his first touchdown this season. Let's hope for more touchdowns to really push Otton to the next level as a confident start with more certainty. As of now he's a great filler for injuries and bye weeks but as a fixture of your lineup it's more dubious. Now is the time to acquire though before your league takes notice and the points come and he's harder to sneak by.

Honorable Mentions: Sean Tucker, Bub Means, Zach Ertz, Dameon Pierce.
