Fantasy Stock Market: Week 4

The waiver wire is a blast every week but nothing feels the same as pulling off a trade! Finding the right compensation can be tough and coming to an agreement is even harder. While we would all love to trade for Justin Jefferson, these articles are based around players that with the right compensation, are attainable. Each week throughout the season, I'll give you buy and sell candidates.

BUY

Jayden Reed, WR, Green Bay Packers

Reed is attainable right now as he has disappointed since his week 1 breakout. Jordan Love's absence has affected the fantasy value of all Green Bay players negatively. Reed continues to also pop up on the injury report with a calf injury. These factors make Reed an enticing buy candidate because when Love was active with Reed in week 1 he put up 34 points in half ppr and has been a focal point of the offense. Volume concerns have not been an issue even without Love as Reed still leads Green Bay offensive personnel in targets and yards along with opportunities. Buy now before Love returns and elevates this offense and makes him unattainable.

Devonta Smith, WR, Philadelphia Eagles

Smith will probably miss this week with a concussion but now is the time to buy. AJ Brown is still dealing with a hamstring injury that has potential to linger. Smith has been active on 100% of snaps on offense for weeks 1 and 2 and was on track for that in week 3 until he suffered a concussion which forced him out of the game. In the Falcons game without Brown, Smith managed a WR14 finish on the week with 10 targets for 7 receptions 76 yards, 7.6 ypt and 10.86 ypc. His one touchdown boosted him to 17.10 points in half ppr. As the season goes on the Eagles will get better and the longer Brown is out the more Smith benefits.

Anthony Richardson, QB, Indianapolis Colts

This one is tough for me as I'm not a Richardson believer myself but I get why people would believe in him. If you do believe in him there is no time better than now to try and acquire. After posting 35 points in half ppr in week 1, Richardson quickly crashed back down to earth with disappointing performances of 10 points and 4 points. You're banking on more designed runs for him in the future and improved accuracy as he currently has more interceptions than touchdowns. A Justin Fields late breakout circa 2022 can't be ruled out. Richardson has also only made around 20 starts now in his whole football career so you're hoping his elite athletic traits and skills can round out and allow him to improve his biggest issues related to accuracy and processing.

SELL

Amari Cooper, WR, Cleveland Browns

Cooper just posted 24 points but that offense is still horrible. Two starting offensive lineman are still projected to be out this week and that's caused havoc for the Browns since the start of the season. Watson's QB play is still a major liability and those two things getting better is not something I'm willing to gamble on. Especially in a dynasty format time is running out to capitalize on opportunities to recoup value on Cooper. Sell now for a better asset or buy low target while Cooper's value is at it's highest.

Dallas Goedert, TE, Philadelphia Eagles

Goedert was a big beneficiary of AJ Brown being absent and Devonta Smith going into concussion protocol. He rewarded managers with a 28 point game, one of his highest totals since week 5 of 2023. Goedert has now delivered a game above 20 points in the past almost three years only three times. The vast majority of the time especially when Brown and Smith are both on the field Goedert has a tendency to disappear to the two prolific receivers. If you are set at TE I'd like to sell Goedert for a position of need. You're likely to get one more week out of him as Smith will likely not clear protocol in time but after this team's week 5 bye I anticipate Brown and Smith to both return to the field and siphon targets from Goedert.
