Fantasy Stock Market: Week 5

Writer: BullshidoBobbyBullshidoBobby

The waiver wire is a blast every week but nothing feels the same as pulling off a trade! Finding the right compensation can be tough and coming to an agreement is even harder. While we would all love to trade for Justin Jefferson, these articles are based around players that with the right compensation, are attainable. Each week throughout the season, I'll give you buy and sell candidates.

BUY

Tee Higgins, WR, Cincinnati Bengals

You probably won't get Chase but Higgins is definitely attainable. His past two games returning from injury have only netted owners 5 and 9 points respectively so many, myself included, are frustrated. However, the Bengals offense as a whole is notorious for slow starts and now it is looking like it's starting to awaken. Higgins was razor close on a potential 2 touchdown game in his first game back and the healthy volume in his second game is comforting. 6 targets in week 3 and now 10 in week 4. YPC of 13 and 10, the only thing missing is the tuddies which will be coming soon. Take advantage of the slow start and Iosivas worries to acquire a top end WR2 who is finally healthy we hope.

T.J. Hockenson, TE, Minnesota Vikings

Hockenson's practice window to come back from IR opens Friday. Especially if he is on a low tier team in your league, now is the time to buy. Many are growing impatient and the Vikings offense looks a lot better than anyone except the most delusional fans could imagine. In 2022 he was the TE 2 and in 2023 the TE 4, the value you can get on a guy of this caliber in the prime of his career in a wasteland position is unmatched. Especially in dynasty leagues this is a screaming buy.

Davante Adams, WR, Las Vegas Raiders

In the words of Nick Diaz, "I don't think he's hurt, I think he's scared". Adams is supposedly dealing with a hamstring injury. He's already been ruled out for week 5 but I think that's a convenient excuse to actually keep him safe for a trade which is now looking like a very realistic possibility. Adams has been very vocal about wanting out of Vegas for two years now since Carr went to New Orleans. Before now the Raiders were giving him 2022 Elijah Moore vibes, now I think they want off this ride while there is still value to the name. I suspect many real life managers feel the same. It's interesting how fast he was ruled out with no practice logs or attempts. Many teams would be interested in Adams with top options being the Jets, Cowboys, Saints, and Chiefs. Take advantage of this frustration and confusion to acquire him for dirt cheap and hope one of those top teams make an offer and it's accepted. Worst case he stays with the Raiders and still puts up numbers. I suspect he soon ends up in a much better situation however, and then he will be untouchable again.

SELL

Garrett Wilson, WR, New York Jets

Wilson was one of my favorite buy low targets just a few weeks ago but fantasy moves fast. Wilson has failed to live up to his price and ADP for 2 years now. He just hasn't put anything noteworthy together in 4 weeks now and I suspect 5 will be the same story. For all the talk of getting him more involved in the offense, he's just simply not commanding the targets and touchdowns to justify the value people still attach to him. It hasn't translated but I still see countless people interested in him and way overvaluing him. For what I see people in real life compare him to I'd look to move him for Davante Adams, Jameson Williams, D.K. Metcalf, Terry Mclaurin, Brian Thomas, George Pickens etc. Running backs, Tight ends, whatever your position of need is. Speaking of Adams, if Adams does go there due to the Rodgers connection then Wilson's value really will crater. Act now and fast to sell for a haul while you still can.

Justin Fields, QB, Pittsburgh Steelers

Fields has greatly benefited from being asked to be a cautious game manger during his time in the Burgh. He has also benefitted from playing subpar defenses thus far and weeks 14-17 during the fantasy playoffs that will not be the case. Cleveland in 14, Philly in 15, Baltimore in 16, and KC in 17. Brutal defenses that will occur back to back to back in the middle of your championship run you're hoping. If you're set at QB and can afford the hit I'd move him for a haul after this 30 point game and target your positions of need. I think he's safe as the starter this year but anything can happen and his long term outlook in dynasty is not good. Cash out high and improve weak areas of your team.

Drake London, WR, Atlanta Falcons

Garrett Wilson, I mean Drake London, yet another overpriced WR2 people treat like a WR1. Through 4 games he's been unimpressive and holds far more value for his name and perceived value than anything he can contribute in real fantasy points. Darnell Mooney is slowly cutting into his share more than anyone could imagine and Pitts is now invisible but it's not like London is getting massive volume leading to huge games. Cousins also looks like his age coming off a serious Achilles injury much like Rodgers, wait, are we sure Garrett Wilson and Drake London aren't the same person? The only thing London has going for him that Wilson doesn't is it seems at the moment London's spot is secure while Wilson's could be in jeopardy if Adams is traded to the Jets. Either way, sell for a haul to shore up positions of need and get off the Atlanta Garrett Wilson train.
