FITTING THE NFL MOLD

QBs come in all shapes and sizes now with scouts relying more on certain metrics to evaluate the position. They are looking for an AY/A (Adjusted Yards Per Attempts) over 9.0 which takes into account yards, touchdowns, and interceptions giving a better overview than raw YPA. They are also looking for a sack rate under 5% and an INT rate under 2%. Milroe needed his large frame to keep up with all the running he did in his college career. While Milroe is able to use his athleticism to get out of sticky situations, he still gets sacked too often and make egregious mistakes. In his last game against Michigan, he was sacked five times getting stripped twice in the process on top of throwing an interception. His TD-INT numbers were 16 TDs to 11INTs which will cause teams to raise huge red flags. He's a dual threat QB that needs serious improvement in his passing game.

COLLEGE PRODUCTION

Milroe mostly only played over these past two seasons at Alabama and showed during that time to have average accuracy and elite scrambling skills. He was able to run the ball over the goal line 32 times in his last 26 games solidifying him as a running threat. While he struggles with passing, he also barely had over 600 attempts in his career limiting his chances to improve. This was likely a part of Alabama's strategy, and they were able to hide his passing weakness behind a strong ground game.

WATCHING THE TAPE

Milroe has elite speed unlike any QB we have seen since Lamar Jackson. His 20 rushing TDs this year were not all, Jalen Hurts type tush pushes from the 1-yard line. He has decent arm strength and deep ball accuracy giving his receivers a chance to go make a play and move the offense down field. That said, he was too frequently being bailed out by his incredible receivers making acrobatic plays thanks to their large catch radiuses. His passes are too frequently near his receiver and not on them. This could easily result in misfires, tips, and picks at the next level.

THE LANDING SPOT

The Seahawks drafted Milroe in the 3rd round showing a desire to land a talented young QB that can sit and learn instead of expecting immediate production. Milroe will get to learn from NFL journeyman Sam Darnold while also getting tips from elite receivers like Cooper Kupp. Milroe is a very raw prospect and needs time to learn and grow, so I like him ending up in Seattle.

WHERE TO DRAFT HIM

Milroe should not be drafted in any form of redraft leagues. In dynasty rookie drafts, I would probably take a stab at him with my last pick. He has a high rushing upside, but I don't know if he will ever be a good enough passer to be a consistent starter at the NFL level.
