A new week of the NBA season has arrived with more props to bet on. Last week was a moderate success as I went 2-1. Jalen Brunson and the over on his assists was the only prop that defeated me last week. However, a positive record means a positive profit. That is the goal once again this week.
The slate of games tonight is not the deepest, but there are some intriguing props that need to be looked at. Let's start the NBA week on the right foot and go for the perfect record.
Tyrese Maxey 30+ points (-130)
The news coming out of the Philadelphia Sixers' organization that Joel Embiid is going to need surgery to repair his torn meniscus. The timetable is not set yet for when he can return, whether this season or next. Embiid was the clear-cut MVP favorite and was on a historical pace. However, he is now gone, but they have Tyrese Maxey ready to emerge.
Maxey has been spectacular all season, which has led to him making his first All-Star team this year. He followed the announcement of his All-Star nod with a 51-point performance against the Utah Jazz. Those big nights are going to be the norm with Embiid gone for the foreseeable future.
The Sixers also have an enticing matchup tonight against the Dallas Mavericks at home. The Mavericks have a really bad defense and even hold the most points allowed per game in their last 10 games. They simply can't handle teams on defense. The Sixers tend to play great at home, especially for Maxey, who is averaging 26 points per game in the Wells Fargo Center.
If the game remains close and there is no blowout on either side, then Maxey should easily eclipse the 30-point mark.
Keegan Murray Under 14.5 Points (-128)
The Sacramento Kings are ending their seven-game road trip tonight in Cleveland to face off against the Cavaliers. They are currently 5-1 on this road trip and would love to culminate it with an emphatic win tonight. However, the Cavaliers are even hotter.
The Cavs are 9-1 in their last 10 and are riding a five-game winning streak. They are finally getting healthy with the recent returns of Evan Mobley and Darius Garland. They also employ the third-best defense in the league this season.
Keegan Murray is a key starter for the Kings, but he has been up-and-down as of late. Murray has had his fair share of issues on the road. He is only averaging 12.8 points per game while shooting 43% from the field and 30% from three on the road. He is just a different player on the road.
During this road trip, he is averaging 13 points per game, despite having a 33-point outing in Miami last week. The Cavs should be able to hold Murray in check. Take the under and feel confident in it.
Luka Doncic Over 9.5 Rebounds (-130)
We are doubling down on the Sixers-Mavs game tonight. Luka Doncic has been phenomenal as of late, as he scored 73 points a few games ago. However, the prop I am eyeing is Luka's rebounds, which are sitting at 9.5. The Mavericks lack some size, especially with Dereck Lively II out for the game. The Sixers are also lacking size with Embiid out as well. The lineups are going to be smaller, which should give Luka a better opportunity to snag some rebounds.
Furthermore, Luka will be placed on the worst offensive threat on the floor, as he sags off and waits for any misses. The offense on both sides should be able to generate a lot of makes and misses with the lack of defense on both ends of the floor. I think the script has Luka 10+ rebounds all over it.
