Welcome in to Champions League Best Bets, brought to you by Bettor In Green, where we recap the latest Champions League action and look ahead with my favorite bets for the upcoming matches.
Recap:
The first leg of the quarterfinals gave us some thrilling football, especially on Tuesday.
Arsenal beat Real Madrid 3-0 at home, thanks to two stunning free kicks from Declan Rice, now taking a big advantage into the second leg.
Inter Milan beat Bayern Munich 1-2 on the road, taking a nice advantage back home.
On Wednesday, Barça beat Dortmund 4-0, while PSG came back from an early Villa goal to win 3-1.
Our Best Bets went 3-0, winning on Inter, Barcelona, and BTTS for PSG/Villa. We even hit 2 out of 3 bonus bets for First Half Draw, only losing that bet in the Inter/Bayern match.
Upcoming Matches:
Now come the return legs. Can Dortmund or Aston Villa mount a comeback at home against two of the hottest teams in the world?
On Wednesday, can Inter hang on to their 1 goal lead at home? And can Real Madrid show us again why they’re never to be counted out, especially when playing at the Bernabéu?
All matches kick off at 3:00 p.m. EST and are shown in the States on Paramount+.
Let’s get to the bets:
Best Bets:
Pick #1: Barcelona Moneyline -120 (April 15, 2025; 3:00 p.m. EST):
For my first Best Bet, I’m again backing Barcelona against a Dortmund team that have looked far from the team they were when they made it to the final last season.
I talked in my last article about Dortmund’s struggles this season, currently sitting 8th in the Bundesliga. They’ll be without Nico Schotterbeck, in defense, someone they could have used in the 4-0 defeat in Barcelona.
Since these sides played last week, Dortmund had a tough 2-2 draw with Bayern Munich on the road, though with a few rotated players. Barça got a 0-1 victory on the road to Leganes, though Alejandro Balde went off injured.
This will be a tough match, as Dortmund have been much better at home than away this season, but Barça looked the far better side last week and I expect them to turn up for this match as well.
Pick #2: Morgan Rogers (Aston Villa) 2+ Shots -125 (April 15, 2025; 3:00 p.m. EST):
For our next bet, I’m looking at a player prop for the Villa/PSG match, taking Morgan Rogers 2+ shots.
Villa are down 2 goals and now will be at home. If they go down an early goal or struggle to score for a while, they’ll start getting desperate for goals.
Morgan Rogers has looked brilliant for Villa this season. While he averages 1.7 shots per 90 in the EPL, he averages 2.2 in the UCL.
In the match last week, Rogers had 3 shots of Villa’s 7 total, as well as a goal. If he brings that same fight to the home match, he’ll easily take two shots, especially if Villa need the goals.
Pick #3: Thomas Müller 2+ Shots -125 (April 16, 2025; 3:00 p.m. EST):
For my last Best Bet, I’m taking a similar player prop in Thomas Müller 2+ shots.
The logic here is similar to Rogers: Bayern will be at a disadvantage and need to take shots, and Müller is in form and a passionate workhorse for the team.
Like Rogers, Müller scored the lone goal last week for his club in the UCL. He only played 16 minutes off the bench but was able to get a goal and 3 shots, two of which were on target.
This is Müller’s last season with Bayern Munich, ending a historic career at the club he’s been at for 25-years and for which he holds the record for most appearances. He’ll be giving his all to keep his final UCL hopes alive.
Season Record:
League Phase Best Bets: 12-12
Playoff Round Best Bets: 2-4
Round of 16 Best Bets: 4-2
Quarterfinals Best Bets: 3-0
Season Total: 21-18
