English Premier League Best Bets: Matchweek 9 (Oct. 24, 2025 - Oct. 26, 2025):

ree

Welcome to English Premier League Best Bets, a Bettor in Green Article Series where we break down the latest action in the English Premier League (EPL) and my favorite bets for the upcoming matchweek.

For an overview of what to expect in this Series, check out my 2025/26 EPL Season Preview and Futures article here.

Recap:

Matchweek 8 kicked off with Nottingham Forest hosting Chelsea, losing 0-3, resulting in Nottingham Forest firing their manager, Ange Postecoglou, after just 39 days in charge.

On a more comedic note, Chelsea got ANOTHER red card, their 5th in 6 matches.

In the marquee match of the weekend, Manchester United beat Liverpool, getting two consecutive EPL wins for the first time in over a year. This also was Liverpool’s 4th consecutive loss in all competitions.

Liverpool’s loss was Manchester City and Bournemouth’s gain, as they jump ahead of Liverpool into 2nd and 3rd, respectively.

In the Monday match, West Ham lost 0-2 at home to Brentford in one of the most uninspiring performances I’ve seen from an EPL team in a long time.

It was a rough weekend in terms of betting. While we went 2-1 for Best Bets, we also lost all 5 Across the Globe bets, which I believe is a first for me since beginning this article series a year and a half ago.

Upcoming Matches:

Matchweek 9 kicks off on Friday afternoon, as Leeds United host West Ham United.

A match I’m looking forward to is Manchester United as they host Brighton, a test to see if United can get a 3rd win in a row.

I’m also looking forward to Nottingham Forest’s first match under new manager, Sean Dyche, a specialist in helping teams avoid relegation and stay in the league.

Let’s get to the bets:

Best Bets:

Pick #1: Newcastle United v Fulham Under 2.5 Goals -105 (Oct. 25, 2025; 10:00 a.m. EST):

For our first Best Bet, I’m looking for a low scoring match between Newcastle United and Fulham.

Newcastle are coming off a rather comfortable 3-0 win in the Champions League against Portuguese side, Benfica, on Tuesday. They’ll then host Tottenham in the Carabao Cup this Wednesday, one of the tougher matches in this round of that competition.

Fulham also have some fixture congestion with the Carabao Cup. While they’re not in Champions League (or any other European competition), they played Arsenal last weekend, play Newcastle this weekend, then play at 3rd-tier Wycombe on Tuesday in the Carabao Cup.

That said, there isn’t much rest for these teams, especially Newcastle, who played a strong team for most of their Champions League match.

Of the 8 EPL marches these clubs have played this season, under 2.5 goals has hit in 5 of the 8 for each of these clubs.

Pick #2: Manchester City Moneyline -115 (Oct. 26, 2025; 10:00 a.m. EST):

For our 2nd Best Bet, I’m looking at an exciting matchup between two in-form teams, Aston Villa and Manchester City.

Villa had a rough start to the season, failing to win any of their first 5 EPL matches and crashing out of the Carabao Cup to Brentford. They then went on to win their next 3 matches in the EPL and 2 Europa League (a tier down from the Champions League) matches.

However, they just played a Europa League match this past Thursday, a 2-1 loss to Go Ahead Eagles in the Dutch league, despite Villa controlling the match statistically.

They’ll now face 2nd-place City, then reigning champions, Liverpool, the following weekend.

Man City are also in a solid run of form, having not lost in 9 matches in all competitions, with 7 wins and 2 draws.

They just won against Villarreal in the Champions League on Tuesday. While they play in the Carabao Cup this weekend, they’ll play 2nd-tier side, Swansea, against whom they should be able to rotate the squad.

Erling Haaland has been in incredible form for City with 15 goals in all competitions. He’s scored in each of the last 9 matches in which he’s played.

This should be an entertaining match, though I expect Manchester City to be too clinical in the attacking-third for Villa to handle.

Pick #3: Bournemouth Moneyline -130 (Oct. 26, 2025; 10:00 a.m. EST):

For my final bet, I’m backing 3rd-place Bournemouth to keep up their impressive form against struggling Nottingham Forest.

Bournemouth haven’t lost in 6 matches in all competitions and have yet to lose at home in the EPL, with 3 wins and 1 draw. They’ve also picked up 3 clean sheets this season in the EPL.

This weekend, they’ll host a struggling Nottingham Forest, who fired head coach Ange Postecoglou within an hour of losing to Chelsea last weekend.

They’ve appointed Sean Dyche to take charge. Dyche spent about a decade coaching Burnley and developed something of an expertise for working with a smaller budget and getting the best out of his players to be a gritty team and avoid relegation.

He was most recently in charge of Everton, coming in during the 2023/24 season and helping them to avoid relegation. He was sacked by Everton in early 2025.

I am actually a believer in the “New Manager Bump,” and to his credit, they got a 2-0 win at home to FC Porto in the Conference League (3rd-tier European Competition) this past Thursday.

This match is part of the reason I’m fading Forest, as they played a tough match in European competition, making minimal substitutions, and now have to travel to the south coast to take on one of the most in-form teams in the EPL right now.

It won’t be easy, but I expect Bournemouth to pull off another win at home.

Across the Globe:

  • Bayern Munich to Win Both Halves +130 (Germany; Bundesliga)

  • RB Leipzig Moneyline +105 (Germany; Bundesliga)

  • Como Moneyline -105 (Italy; Serie A)

  • Botafogo Moneyline -120 (Brazil; Serie A)

  • Philadelphia Union Moneyline -115 (USA; MLS Playoffs)

Season Record:

Best Bets: 13-11

Across the Globe: 17-23
