Fantasy Stock Market: Week 9

The waiver wire is a blast every week but nothing feels the same as pulling off a trade! Finding the right compensation can be tough and coming to an agreement is even harder. While we would all love to trade for Justin Jefferson, these articles are based around players that with the right compensation, are attainable. Each week throughout the season, I'll give you buy and sell candidates.

BUY

Dallas Goedert, TE, Philadelphia Eagles

Goedert's value is dirt cheap right now. A hamstring injury is threatening to keep him out of his 3rd consecutive game and managers are impatient. Especially in dynasty, this is the perfect time to acquire Goedert. TE premium leagues are especially ripe for acquiring a top notch player at the position on a high powered offense. Goedert when healthy was putting up impressive totals for the position. Capitalize on short term concerns and enjoy the premium player down the road and at playoffs.

Travis Etienne, RB, Jacksonville Jaguars

Another talented player who's value is completely in the toilet right now. Bigsby appears to have carved out a role for himself sure but he does not have the complete skillset that Etienne possesses, especially when it comes to the passing game. With Kirk out for the season and Brian Thomas Jr potentially injured, more targets could be coming the way of a healthy Etienne. Even if Bigsby takes over as the pure rusher Etienne would have value as a strong pass catcher himself with touchdown upside. This is also assuming worst case scenario that Bigsby has completely usurped Etienne which I'm not too sold on. Etienne being traded would only increase his value based off where he goes as there are a lot of running back needy teams in the league.

Malik Nabers, WR, New York Giants

Two disappointing performances in a row has a lot of people grumbling about Nabers. The Giants schedule really opens up from here on out as remaining teams on the schedule are not locking down the passing game. Worst case scenario in dynasty, the Giants get rid of Jones and find an amazing starting quarterback next year that elevates the whole team. Nabers is at an all time low value and many people don't have the patience to wait on the 6th overall draft pick of 2024. This is shortsighted and a comedic level of error. Nabers has shown he can deliver even with Daniel Jones at the helm and he definitely can do it again down the stretch.

SELL

Diontae Johnson, WR, Baltimore Ravens

This is not an exciting location for Johnson to end up at compared to destinations such as the Chargers, Chiefs, Raiders, Saints, etc. Baltimore has great QB play like the Chiefs and Chargers would have offered but Johnson finds himself potentially in a messy receiving room. Flowers has a role, Likely and Andrews get targets, Bateman is bipolar, but overall I don't quite understand how to make sense of this. Lamar Jackson is airing the ball out but this continued spreading of targets won't help Johnson who isn't exactly a target hog. Many people seem to like this move though and have high hopes compared to his place in Carolina where QB play was atrocious but opportunities abounded. I'm selling high to anyone looking at this as an upgrade.

Courtland Sutton, WR, Denver Broncos

Sutton rebounded from being blanked in the Saints game and if anyone is high on him again he's gone. He's too inconsistent and never inspires enough confidence to start. In dynasty even a 5th through 7th round pick would have me ecstatic to move him outright. Nix is playing a lot better and airing the ball out and balancing the offense but Sutton is the type of erratic player that can ruin your season chasing his highs because the lows are terrible.

Khalil Shakir, WR, Buffalo Bills

I'm sorry but Shakir will never be a reliable thing. He just posted his second big game of the season since week 3 when he played a horrible Jaguars defense. Coleman is the better young player on that team and Cooper's role will only continue to grow. The Bills are also very content to rely on the run game when possible and all pass catchers suffer a dip as a result when that happens too. Sell higher than Willie Nelson and don't look back. He's just as spotty as Sutton just with a slightly safer floor. It's not like you are losing a real difference maker.
