English Premier League Best Bets: Matchweek 37 (May 16, 2025 - May 20, 2025):

Welcome to English Premier League Soccer Best Bets, where we break down the latest action in the English Premier League (EPL) and my favorite bets for the upcoming matches, providing quality content that is accessible to new fans and engaging to old and new fans alike.

For an overview of what to expect in this Bettor in Green Article Series, check out my EPL Season Preview and Futures article here.

Recap:

There are only two weeks left in the season and, while we know Liverpool are Champions and who will be relegated, the race to secure a European place is going down to the wire!

A big winner of the weekend was Newcastle, who got the 2-0 win over Chelsea to move into 3rd.

Aston Villa also won a big match away to Bournemouth, putting them in 6th.

Manchester City and Nottingham Forest only managed draws against clubs set to be relegated. This drops Forest down to 7th, though they have officially secured some form of European soccer for next season with the draw.

Our Best Bets went 2-1, winning a nice +145 with Brighton, as well as winning Crystal Palace to Win Either Half and our bonus on them to win.

Across the Globe we went 3-2, losing Corinthians and NYCFC, winning Freiburg, Atlético Madrid, and Elfsborg.

Upcoming Matches:

With only two matches remaining for each team, this weekend is critical for the standings and should bring plenty of excitement as clubs make the final push.

The first matches kicks off Friday, with Aston Villa hosting Spurs and Chelsea hosting Manchester United, starting at 2:30 p.m. EST and 3:15 p.m. EST, respectively.

There’s no EPL action on Saturday, as Crystal Palace and Manchester City will play in the FA Cup Final.

We then have 5 matches on Sunday, culminating in Arsenal hosting Newcastle.

We have one match on Monday, as Brighton host the Champions, Liverpool.

The week ends with two matches on Tuesday, with Crystal Palace hosting Wolves and Man City hosting Bournemouth.

Let’s get to the bets:

Best Bets:

Pick #1: 2-Leg Parlay: Aston Villa and Chelsea Moneylines -110 (May 16, 2025; 2:30 p.m. EST and 3:15 p.m. EST):

Over the past couple weeks, we’ve been backing teams in the  race for the European places, particularly top 5, while fading Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur as they shift their focus to the Europa League Final, rather than the Premier League.

These matches are being played Friday to try to give Manchester United and Tottenham a few extra days of rest before the Europa League Final this Wednesday.

As I’ve stated in previous articles, both of those clubs have nothing left for which to play in the EPL, sitting 16th and 17th, but have the opportunity to win a trophy and a Champions League berth if they can win the Europa League. Simply put, they will be prioritizing next Wednesday’s match, not this one.

Their opponents, Aston Villa and Chelsea, are tied on points in the table, while Chelsea currently occupy the 5th and final Champions League place, with Villa in 6th. Neither side will want to drop any points in this critical match to help them secure a place in next season’s Champions League.

Pick #2: 2-Leg SGP: Nottingham Forest to Win or Draw and Over 1.5 Total Goals (May 18, 2025; 9:15 a.m. EST):

Nottingham Forest have had a bit of a fall-off as the season draws to a close. They sat in 3rd place and comfortably in a Champions League spot, but now find themselves in 7th, on the outside looking in on the Champions League places.

However, they’re only one point behind Chelsea and Villa, sitting in 5th and 6th. While Forest have already clinched some level of European soccer next season (Champions League, Europa League, or Conference League), they’ll be fighting to make the Champions League, or at least secure a Europa League spot.

Their opponents, West Ham, have not impressed me yet under Graham Potter. They did just snap an 8-match winless streak, although it was against a Manchester United team who was prioritizing their Europa League matches.

However, they’ve scored in 13 of the 17 matches they’ve played in all competitions this season under Graham Potter, who took over in January, going 4-5-8 in that stretch.

I expect Forest to push hard for the win, though West Ham may be able to get a goal back as well.

Looking for a player prop? Try Chris Wood to Score Anytime +145. He’s hit the milestone of 20 goals this season and his team will need him to step up again in this match.

Pick #3: Crystal Palace Moneyline +125 (May 20, 2025; 3:00 p.m. EST):

For my final bet, I’m taking a bit of a chance, backing Crystal Palace before knowing the result of their FA Cup match with Manchester City on Saturday.

Taking the FA Cup out of the equation, both clubs have had a solid run of form, with Palace only losing 2 of their last 15 matches, winning 9 and drawing 4. Wolves had won 6 matches in a row, but have now lost their last 2.

Palace are scoring consistently with Eze, Sarr, and Mateta, scoring 16 goals in their last 10 matches. Wolves have scored 15 in that span, but have failed to score in their last 2 matches.

Unfortunately, I’m pessimistic about CP’s chances in the FA Cup, though I personally would like to see them win.

If they lose, they’ll have little left to play for in terms of trophies, but are still doing well in the league with their best points finish and the opportunity to still move into the top half of the table, an achievement they managed last season and would love to replicate.

If they win, they’ll be fresh off an emotional win and bring that excitement back home to the fans.

Wolves are in a position where there isn’t much of anything to play for in the EPL other than pride and the additional merit  that are given out based on the final table position. While Wolves have been good in the run-in, I’m backing Palace whether they win or lose the FA Cup Final.

Across the Globe:

  • Marseille Moneyline -130 (France; Ligue 1)

  • LASK Linz Moneyline +115 (Austria; Austrian Bundesliga)

  • Feyenoord Moneyline +115 (Netherlands; Eredivisie)

  • Racing Genk Moneyline -110 (Belgium; Jupiler Pro League)

  • Corinthians Moneyline -115 (Brazil; Serie A)

Season Record:

Best Bets: 50-57

Across the Globe: 93-81
