FITTING THE NFL MOLD

Ideally, a WRs height will be between 6'1" and 6'3" and he will weigh somewhere between 205 and 215 lbs. Tez is seriously undersized for the WR position and teams are going to have a hard time seeing him as anything more than a gadget player and returner. The three greatest predictors of NFL success for WRs in the combine are the 40 Yard Dash, the 3-Cone Drill, and the Vertical Jump. These test a players speed as well as their ability to high point a ball. He had the fastest 3-cone time at the combine giving him showing he is an elusive player as he has a Burst Score in the 83rd percentile and an Agility Score in the 93rd percentile. However, he has an incredibly slow straight-line speed (4.51 40-time), especially for his size.

COLLEGE PRODUCTION

Two factors that scouts will raise red flags on are if a receiver has multiple 100+ reception seasons along with injuries and if they play in air-raid or spread heavy systems. Johnson saw plenty of work as he had 80+ receptions over his last two seasons at Oregon. He saw plenty of work as a punt returner and that should raise his stock with teams.

WATCHING THE TAPE

Johnson is incredibly hard to tackle as he will dip beneath would be tacklers as they have difficulty getting that low at that speed. His game speed looks much faster than his 40 time suggests which is a good thing as too often Combine heroes aren't able to put it all together on the field. He relies on his speed and elusiveness to beat defenders because once someone does get their hands on him, he goes down easily due to his size. He sees a lot of deep balls and screen passes and it can be questioned how well he can run the full route tree. He will struggle with man coverage as he relies on finding the soft zones or using his speed to get behind the secondary which will be more difficult at the next level.

THE LANDING SPOT

Tez was always going to be buried on the depth chart no matter where he went. He lands in Tampa and will likely be fighting for an active roster spot. He could be a great kick and punt returner for the Bucs and contribute on special teams if need be. If he is active, the Bucs can use his speed for gadget plays but he won't have a large role outside of special teams if he makes the roster.

WHERE TO DRAFT HIM

Tez is un-draftable in redraft leagues. In dynasty rookie drafts, I'm taking Tez off my board. I don't see him developing into a consistent fantasy contributor and he doesn't have the size to play a majority of the snaps in the NFL.
